WOUNDED PAW PROJECT
WPP is dispelling the belief that shelter dogs are not practical candidates as Service Dogs. This notion is based upon the idea that by breeding, one can control temperament, wellness, and longevity. Anthropological data does not support the idea that upbringing and race/color influences level of performance or - more importantly - constructive contributor to society. Shelter Dogs exemplify the military creed [dogma] of “Service before Self”. Like Daisy to the right - A Rescue Dog trained to assist me while recovering from injuries sustained in Iraq.
DID YOU KNOW: Annually, an estimated 8 million animals enter animal [kill] shelters in the United States. Some 4 million of them are destroyed, many violently. Many shelters limit their holding time because of the vast numbers of animals arriving on a daily basis. Add The Global Torture and Destruction of Innocent Animals for the Sole Enjoyment of Killing without Merit.
Giving Them a Second Tail!
I watch over four humans (two teenagers and two grown ones). The big ones think they’re in charge, but it’s the teenagers that get my tail in a wagging frenzy and I keep their beds warm.
Rosie, Service Dog
We provide our dogs free of charge through the generous support of our donors.
Shelter Dogs are Extraordinary
Sometimes being man’s best friend is a ruff gig. Training and caring for my humans is an arduous but rewarding process. However, PLEASE don't forget about my Well-Being.
